Recently i have noticed that my tach was going nuts, from resting at 0 to jumping wayyyyy past redline, but my engine isnt reving, then later my car died and wasnt able to restart. If it sits for a while it might start back up but it will soon stop again. I do have an aftermarket chip installed but i have had it for almost 3 years and never had any problems. Do you think its the chip or is it something else. Has anyone had this happen?

im not positive, but that sure sounds like the chip, just seems odd that a problem would randomly start like that after 3 years

i was thinking it was a gauge cluster at first, but if your car is dying, i have a feeling it might be something to do with the dme or maybe even the mass air flow sensor
