Hi Guys,

I'm new at this so please help. I am trying to register my '93 318i but I need to find the engine number. I found the VIN number ok but cannot see where the engine number would be......please help

The engine number is on the forward end of the block, but it might be hard to see. It can be found by VIN, but that would only match the original engine.

Is it on the block or should I be looking for a plate with an engraved number on the block ?

AFAIK it's on the block.

you wouldn't know if it's on the spark plug or the exhuast side ?

I've seen it mentioned as being on the left side.

Ok ...found it !!!

It's located on the right at the end of the block next to the sump on the righ hand side ie the air filter side.
It is very hard to find and it is located right behind the dip stick.
