Engine Check Light

Does anyone else have this problem? If it is a problem :P

When I first got my car ('94 325) the engine check light came on because my water pump had gone. I took it to get fixed and since it's come back the engine check light doesn't come on when I start the car!! Also when I test the gauges by holding the trip down and turning the key it doesn't come on either.

What's going on? Or am I worring about nothing

Ps when I switch the ignition on I get the following lights under the speedo:

Brake Pads
Handbrake
Transmission
Brake Hydraulics
ABS

They all go aff after a couple of seconds

The check engine light should come on during starting and go out as normal. If your mechanic didn't notice this, find another. I would certainly question them about it. If you can replace it, do so. If it is still on demand an answer from the machanic.

yea the light should come one. Either the bulb burnt out or it was intentionally removed... pull the cluster and check out the bulb situation
