Engine bogs down at intermittent times... Hello fellow bimmer owners. Just joining the forum, today. I have a few intriguing questions... I purchased a 1999 323iC. For the most part it runs good. However, it has begun to run sluggish. I think it may be a combination of things that cause the engine to run sluggish or it just needs more maintenance. Nevertheless, here are the symptoms for my ride.
1) Intermittently, the engine will act as if it is not receiving gas. I am driving along, then out of the blue, it will bog down, act as if fuel isn't reaching the manifold; then by pressing the gas, it will eventually clear up, a minute or so later. What causes this? I have read on this forum; others have experienced the same. The issues some have posted cover; bad camshaft sensor, defunct O2 sensors, malfunctioning MAF, or leaking vacuum hoses. What would this forum say or recommend?
2) The ASC light remained lit, after I started the car. I could not enable ASC. I fixed this one... the AIR meter boot's hose clamp impeded the throttle linkage in fully extending when pressing the gas pedal. I moved the hose clamp's adjustment bolt, so it would interfere with the throttle position, and it corrected the issue. Now the light remains off, and I can disable ASC when I need to. |
