Emissions leak??

So the light everyone loves to see comes on "check engine". This was awhile ago, had a buddy run a check and fault code P0442 came up. "Evap. Emission leak detected (small leak)". Okay....re-tighten the gas cap, cleared codes and drove off. Fast forward 10 days later, the damn thing came on again. Haven't had the code checked agian but most likely same code.

What other options are there for that fault code. Wat should i be looking for under the car to figure this thing out??...

are you fueling the vehicle with the engine running or key on? if not check gas cap seal. if you see traces of fuel seeping out replace it

my car has had this for years...i never wanted to pay the stealership diagnostics. i just clear the codes a few days before my annual inspec. passes every time, in NY (upstate)
