Emission Component Questions And - BMW Forum

I am in the research stage of the CAI and have questions regarding the emissions components. On the stock air filter box there is a tube that connects to something called the "emission control air pump". From there it goes further and connects other components on a vacuum system and into the intake. In addition to the vacuum system, there is an electrical connection referred to as the "air temperature sensor" that also connects to the airbox. Where do these components go after the install and if any, what are the effects of removing them? By the way, I have a 318i, but I am sure that the general installation is the same throughout all of the models.

I didn't have that on my 96, but the instructions on my Dinan Style CAI suggested to either drill a hole in my CAI for it or to tuck it out of the way.

My guess would be to tuck it away and if you have problems passing emmissions then drill away
