electrochromatic rear view mirror

got one of those electrochromatic rear view mirrors (the ones that tint automatically) in my 318i e36. trouble is because they only come in top spec cars theres no wiring in mine for it, anyone know how to wire one manually???
im not scared of a soldering iron or taking it apart so any suggestions welcome.

if you can find one, then all you have to do is find a power source. I suggest you try by tapping the courtesy lights by the sunroof for power. Take care not to use the sunroof wires though. the motors aren't very tolerant and I wouldnt want to pull any more more power away from it.

trouble with it is theres 6 wires coming off the mirror and i have a feeling theres a reason for them, just wondered if anyone had attempted wiring one of these from scratch?? or if anyone knows where i can find a tech spec on the wiring?

what if you dont have a sunroof? i wanted to add "mood" lighting but i cant since i dont have a sunroof, is there another spot you could wire it too? heres the link: http://www.rose-hulman.edu/~smithm3/mods/l...hting/index.htm
