electrical problems

I have searched this forum and other forums. It seems alot of people have had these problems, but I haven't found much on how to fix them.

These are 4 separate issuse that did pop up quickly but not at the same time.

1. The left rear brake light does not work. I checked the bulb. It's fine. There is no power going to the plug that plugs into the brake light.

2. This may have occured at the same time as the brake light, but I think it occured a month or so later.

The left rear running light and the front marker light does not work. The right side it fine.

3. The turn signals and Emergency blinkers stopped working. This happened right after I replaced the final stage unit. Is there any wireing down there that I could have accidentally disturbed? What other things could it be.

4. The interior light stop working. The map lights stopped working to, but have since started working again.

All fuses and bulbs are ok. The common corrosion on the tail lights, isn't an issue. I don't have power back to the plug.


Lastly, I would greatly appreciate it, if someone who owns this model of car and has had some of these problems answer me. I would like to know where the relays are for these lights. Are they all in the engine compartment or are there some under the dash?

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like a bad earth or a short if in the wiring loom i had probs like that on a e36 coupe check the wiring loom that runs into the bootlid norm on pas side cut back insulation to expose the wires they break up and short out also check for water damage in the fuseboard in engine bay hope this helps GAZ 5

I got the turn signals working, the front marker light, and the interior lights.

Thanks for the post on the wiring diagrams. They help alot.

Now I'm just down to the left side brake and tail lights. I'm going to start looking for broken wires there.
