Electrical problem?

I have been having a problem with the flashers on my 1998 328i. Sometimes (not every time) I start the car the flashers will start and not turn off. I have tried restarting the car (they even stay on when the car is off), locking and unlocking the doors. When I hit the on/off button for the flashers they just blink twice as fast, likewise when I use the turn signal. Sometimes they will stutter and them come back on. Eventually after driving a few embarassing miles they shut off. Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated.

I know that the flashers will go off while programming the keyless entry or alarm "brain" on the central locking module. If ou have already replaced the flahser relay, check your connection behind the GB. Start by checking the relay though.
