hey guys
as most of you know I had installed a toggle switch a few months ago for my car. THe switch had a light that lights up but I had not wired that earlier. This afternoon I took out the console in front of the gear again and neeeded to wire the pin from the toggle switch to ground in order to get the light to come on when the switch was in on position.
I did that, but then i kinda wanted the light to come on when the switch was in the off position. so I tried to connect the wire from the pin to the positive pin of my cigarette lighter instead of the ground terminal. Saw a little spark and said screw it , wired it to ground, the switch and light worked....so was happy.
NOW my cigg lighter does not work, which means my radar does not work....dont want to take it to the dealer....any suggestions ??

ok, this might be stupid, but u didnt specify about it...u check the fuse? if not, then what was the toggle switch used for? and where were the wires connected?

dont look like current is getting there, the switch is used to start the car, its in seriers with the ignition cylinder.......where are the fuses located to check ?
anyone know right above the cig lighter, there is a bulb/lamp kinda thing, this is from the inside.back once u open it...what is that ?

the fuse box is located under the hood....pop the hood, and it will be towards the window, on the left (driver side/USA). it will be a rectangular black box. check all of the fuses cuz some functions in the car have more then one fuse to run it. but before you change and try to recheck everything, recheck all connections, and make sure that they are connected to the right wires, and are well sealed away from any other contact. seems as though u live in illinois...where exactly? near chicago suburbs?

gonna go check the fuse box now, hope thats it...live in urbana-champaign......shud be moving to chicago area soon hopefully!

sweet deal guys, the fuse is blown!! could not take it out but can see that there is no filament when compared to the other fuses.
do i need to buy it from the dealer ? does it just slide out and then slide in ?
