Electric Exhaust Cutout

I was wondering if anyone had an electric or bolted exhaust cutout on their bimmer. It sounds like an awesome thing to have in case you have to race some ricer at a light, or for an extra 10 horses on the open road. Here's a link to one I was looking at. It's from some buick site but whatever.



Also, I was wondering how big the exhaust pipes between the cat and the muffler are on a '97 328is. It's duel pipes so I'd have to get two cutouts. Is there any negative aspect besides legality that should deter me from getting this?

I think the pipe is between 2-3" in diameter. Its basically running straight pipes, so the only negative is increased volume. That is if you want to call that a negative.

man you don't need to spend money on an electrical exhaust cut out. why don't you just get an adjustable silencer for your exhaust? you probably can even make one on your own. i am pretty sure you can find on at a performance shop or even on ebay.

A Sound definatly is a big plus when it's regulated!

B I have a stock exhaust and I don't want an annoyingly loud muffler all the time. I was also thinking that this was one way to get quiet sound most of the time and then show off every once and a while. Plus i think you can leave it partially open to have medium loud sound all the time like a aftermarket muffler for the same price or cheaper.

yea i guess you can say that is true. i have a way loud exhaust haha. sometimes i wish i can adjust it when the damn cops roll by. luckily the cops haven't pulled me over for it or said anything about it.

I have never heard of this before but it looks like a friggin cool product. If any one has had experience with one of these please tell about. I am thinking about ordering one right now. Is there any other companys that sell these things ?

Good News...... I have just finished speeking to the guy that makes these babys...... i will be importing a few of these to fit to mine and friends cars....

I should be able to get these cheeper if i can get a few orders togeather from yourselves.... B)

I will supply the kit to your selves as follows.....

* 2x E-Cut outs
* 2x Y adapters, (just have existing exhaust cut and these in place) see pic
* Necessary wire and switch......


I will fit to mine, find the ideal setup and necessary wireing and great looking switches and supply it as a simple kit with instructions..... ghead

Isn't £350 about $640?? I can order the kit from Quick Time Performance for $170 each + $35 each for the cutouts so about $410 + shipping and installation.

Also, what's your location?

Anyone know how much it would cost to have this installed? cause I don't have a welder or cutting torch.

that was only an estimate, and dont forget import tax and VAT for the UK.... and thats a complete kit...... i was also goint to include a flamer kit and s/s pipes for 2x side exits if i can sort out the parts for it included in that price....

to have some one fit the pipes into your exhaust your only looking at about £30.... nothing really.....

Installation wouldn't be too expensive for the actual exhaust the remote switch could be a different story. I used to have one of these on my chevey truck but it didn't have the switch. I had headers and then a little pipe then the "y" pipe. This product is awesome it is like running open headers you can notice the difference immediately.
