Elect. fault on brakelights E36 1994 - BMW Forum

Hi
I have a 1994 E36 series 3 that seems to have a problem with the passenger side brakelight. But it also seems to affect the passenger side park light as well.
Problem is that they only occasionally come on

I have replaced the bulbs thinking it was that, but to no avail.

Could the problem be a loose earth somewhere or is the fuse that works that side only???? as the fuse box has god knows how different fuses in there...

Well, it finally did me in and took it to an auto sparky for a look, the bulb holders were not earthing properly, but he discovered the real problem, it was the light switch itself. As it was not going into the park light position and going straight to the headlight position, it was not supplying the proper power needed to the park lights, thus blowing the bulbs out.

After a good going over by them, all is good now, but it cost me $95.00AUD to replace the switch, but better than having a complete meltdown..
