e46 running rich??? 330ci please help

i just bought an 01' 330ci in texas. I had it checked out by a bmw mechanic and he advised me to buy it and that it was in good shape. As i was driving home, after about 700 miles the check engine light came on. The car felt like it was bogging a little and the power wasn't as strong and consistent as it should be. I had the code read and it said that the car was running too rich in both banks. i am bringing it to a european mechanic but in order to avoid a ridiculous bill i would like to know what could be causing this. could it be a mass airflow sensor, throttle body, or what? please help!

Lambda sensors? MAF? Throttle body?
Have a look at them...

I had the same issue with the E36 I bought last year. I bought a MAF, installed it, and problem solved. It's a pretty inexpensive fix at about 85 bucks. Really simple to install, too.

Also check that your air filter isn't passed it best. Another easy thing to check and replace if necessary.
