e46 M3 SMG shifter in an e36?

Ok, on bimmian.com they were selling custom shift boots for e36s' but to fit the SMG shifter...

So this leads me to ask the question: can we install M3 SMG shifters into our e36s?

Again, I'll ask around at work... But if anyone here has seen this, please share...

Umm... I think they actually made a E36 with SMG.... or there is a big converstion.. cause I've seen it more than once...

they made the E36 M3 with SMG I. No paddles but it did have a shift lever by the window switches to tap the gears up and down. I've never seen it more than once online, and I've never seen a car for sale with it (e36 that is)

To clarify.... I'm wondering about the shifter between the front seats, not the paddles...

But to install it you'd need the whole SMG tranny...... Not very cost effective. I think this is another one of those sweet ideas that just won't happen.

very expensive to do it. .not worth it in the end. honestly i think the SMG swap is for guys who have too much money and nothing left to mod on their cars.... besides Geoff i thought your car was manual?

Damn... I guess I'm not clear at all!

I just want to put the shifter from the SMG into my car... Instead of, let's say, a MOMO shifter....

Just the part you grab... not the whole system....
