Hi all, I've poured a few thousand dollars into my 1995 325is and the thing is damn near mint... Except for that damn driver side window.
At first, the window would stop ascending half way up the door, so I had both the regulator and motor replaced. Months later, after this it seemed to be working fine, except eventually the car wasn't acknowledging the door being opened, so the window would stick in the "up" position, like when it suctions itself to the car. It goes up and down fine, but when it goes all the way up it goes straight into the "up" position again, like it's not giving itself any room for the suction, if that makes sense. When it goes into the "up" position it seems to be going too far towards the car, as it is tearing some of the rubber close to the side mirror. Also, periodically, when I lower the window all of the way and try to raise it again it reaches the top and hits the rubber at the top of the window and lowers back down a few inches because it's sitting at an extreme angle towards the car, and I then have to push the window outwards as it's raising for it to close properly.
When I press the door switch on the latch thing which is supposed to raise/lower the window, nothing happens, (although I did have a brand new one put in by my mechanic a few months after replacing the motor and regulator yet the problem persisted).
Is this just a matter of adjusting the window itself? I'm curious because the regulator, motor, and switch are all new, its like the window isn't acknowledging any input except for window up and window down. It's only a pain because I have aftermarket halos, and they only turn off once you open the door and the window lowers (which only happens to the passenger door). You would think they would turn off once the door switch was released but when you open the driver side door, they stay on, but they turn off once the passenger door is opened and the window lowers.
Definately needs resetting...
I had a similar issue with my sunroof, cured it by holding the lift button for ten secs !
Not sure how you reset the door window as yet...

Hmmm... Might be the installation procedure, by this I mean the motor should be totally in the "Down" position before connection? Something like that, just a thought !
