Hey guys this is my first post so hopefully it's in an appropriate forum...
My brother is looking for a used 328i. Is the 1999 328i slower than the '98? Im asking this because I heard that the E46 is heavier than its predecessor and if they both have the same 2.8L V6 then I assume the 99-2000 328i is probably a bit slower because of the power:weight ratio. Is this true?
I also heard something about the clutch being too imprecise on newer 3 series. I heard they have some kind of thing in there to dull it so it cant engage as quickly if some granny is driving. Does the 1998 328i have this type of clutch? How about the 99?

Im pretty sure that a 98 328 is faster, and it's an Inline 6.
