E36 Transmission Conversion

First Timer here...thanks in advance for my ignorence/and or spelling!

Ok, so I got a great deal on a '93 325i (E36). As of course with all good deals, there's always a catch, in this case it's the automatic transmission which is starting to show it's age. I'm really thinking hard about swapping out to a 5 speed manual, but want to get as much infomation as I can before I make the commitment.

Looking for any advice on how to proceed if anyone has already done this type of thing, also I'm looking to eventually swap out the M50 for a MPower Engine down the road as well. Just want to make sure that I get everything straight...any advice/help most welcome!

wasup and welcome , dont worry about spelling and no such thing as ignorance....

if i were you , i would wait to do the swap and get an engine and tranny together. it will save you time and labour. ive done the M3 swap myself, its a great mod, as for the 5 speed conversion, there have been a few members who have done it. and will be able to give you some guidance on it.

you can also try doing a search and see if you come up with any relivant info.

i agree with the wait part i have a ssslow 318 ic i have an 325 engine with 87000 on it looking for the trans drivesshaft and diff and will do it all at once it just makes sense

have you completed your 5spd swap yet ? I am going to do a swap in my 96 328i and was just looking for any friendly advise.... thanks for anything from anybody!!!
