e36 rear view mirror problem/

Hi all, I had a cracked rear view mirror lens and I bought a replacement from bavarian and upon removing the old mirror glass found that it was attached with double stick tape by the previous owner. The new glass won't fit properly in the mirror and I think a piece may be missing. I'm hoping someone will be able to identify the piece I'm missing in the picture. I may just ebay an old mirror but I'm hoping I can locate it elsewhere. The second and third pictures are some pics of the car I couldn't resist taking. It's my second bmw, my last was an e30. It's a 92 325 is. Thanks guys!

I know that the mirrors on the e36 have four little clips that clip into the motor part so that the mirror can be moved around and everything. Give me the last 7 of your VIN and I will get the part number for you.

Is that black stuff tape?

EK01125<-last 7 digits. The black stuff is a shield to keep water off the motor, I believe. Thanks for your help.

Reuse the double sided tape until you can get the part with the clips that bimmerboy was reffering to. Mine just kinda pops in and out... but can't tell from the pic which part you might be missing (at least without going out to my car and popping the mirror out). Check out the bently manual download and you might be able to figure out what you are missing.

Or chewing gum might also work but could attract bugs once it gets warmer.
