You can get some decent condition 325i's for around 7-8 grand that are ~94 if i remember correctly. Look around autotrader. For a project car bmw, the most available modding is for the m3 or 325i, and you won't get an m3 for 8k, leaving the 325. Whatcha thinking about doing to it?
Putting in a new performance engine (a 2.8 one if the tranny would fit) from bavengine.com
built from the ground up for performance
intake, exhaust, chip, throttle body, headers, faster transmission, nice suspension, brakes, some new steering equipment...maybe a m3 front bumper and some ok rims, but mainly performance from the ground up...
The performance engine pushes around 230 HP then all the mods should give it almost 300 HP and maybe on top of that a turbo...

If you're looking at dropping all that money into it, why not just get e36 m3 and do a dinan s2 on it? That'd probably be better performance for less money...
i duno about you... but i wouldnt want to drive around a car with 100k+ miles and a supercharger on it...
this would cost around $18,000 total but this would be over the period of a year or more...
yeah an e30 project car would be soooo sick! they are lighter better for the track and just all around badass looking cars! spend a little more and get an e30 m3 i would ask you to marry me!
