Last August my engine block was replaced because of the old nikasil problem, thankyou BMW. Now from time to time when I'm stuck in traffic and I go to accelarate to move off the rev counter drops to zero and back to normal in a split second and the car feels as if it's going to stall but it doesn't, and if this happens more than once or twice within the space of a few minutes then accelaration become very slow and the only way to correct it is to turn off and on the engine.

This only happens about once a week and only in traffic, since the block replacement I've been using optimax petrol after a couple of people told me that normal unleaded 95 is not that great.

Sounds like a timing problem - software!! Have you checked with a BMW dealer? They should be able to check all the sensors and little bits and pieces of software that do all the tricks using their computers.
