e36 heater blowing cold!! Help

hi! having owned a few bmw's in the past i decided to go back to where i started and brought an e36 318ti compact with the M42 engine!

I brought it with a hole in the block and have just got it running with a second hand lump and it runs great!

However i can't get the heater to blow hot, the system has been bleed properly and the pipes into the matrix are both nice and hot. All the cables are on the flaps and the seem to working ok,they all look like there moving but i cant see inside it yet and didn't want to start stripping the heater box untill I had some feedback from other owners who may have come across this problem!?!?!?!

sounds like you've got an airlock! I take it you've checked for circulation?water pump working and pressurizing the system??

Yes, theres no air in the system and it is curulating properly, note there is also no air-con fitted! As far as i can tell the whole heater core is hot, So this would lead to a heater box fault,Right???

probably the hot/cold air flap is stuck in the cold position

I had the same problem for a while until I noticed the nob type thing right near the vents. When you turn the nob to the red it will blow hot air, when you turn it to the blue it will blow cold air. Might help i dunno

There is a heater valve somewhere. And there is a way to check it. Can't find my Bentley at the moment, maybe someone else can help.
