i read some where that all e36's have this common fault, the foglight lens get's hot and when you hit a puddle the water cracks the glass, now i have one broken glass fog light, and one not broken, the not broken one doesn't come on at all, the driver's side one that is broken comes on but the other day i turned it on for the hell of it and it didn't come on, and today i was out trying to change that bulb into the other fog to see if i just need a new bulb in the right and the left one didn't work and i nudged the fog light a bit and it came on, are the connections messed up??, do i need new fogs?? i know i need a new drivers side fog since the glass is broken, but how come the light came on and off?
any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance,
Shahab
wow, your english sucks.. u have so many runon sentences and fragments, which makes it soo hard to read. Anyway, check fuses.. bulbs, and connections..
reason your glass cracked was that it was hot, cold water hit it and it cracked.
as for the working/not working... if its anything like e34s fogs, then the connectors for the light are exposed to the outside right behind the bumper so it's very possible that they got splashed with water and are getting shorted.
good luck on finding cheap replacement foglights... and if you do find some notify me as my dads car has a broken one as well... and we don't know the cause.

come on
ok thanks torque, yeah i know why the glass is broken, i'm gonna look at it more tommorow, i have all week to be here bored at my house, umnitza has oem zkw fogs for 55, at least they did last time i checked,
the myth of cracking glass is true but only in very few cases where , like stated above, the glass is hot and the water is very cold relative to the ambient temp. blah blah blah..
anyways there are a few things to check, one is that the bulbs are ok ....duh
pop your foglights out and see if the connectors arent corroded out. mine were on the passenger side .
if all is well with the stated above, break out the old voltage tester to make sure youre reciving power.

ok i'm gonna do that today, that's what i was planning on doing yesterday but i ran out of daylight, and my flash light is dead, lol, i'm gonna try that today, thanks guys for the ideas
I've also had some problems with the fog light... mainly it was the round connector... it has a power.. and a ground wire to it.. the connectors were mess up.. because they bend back.. into the harness... just a new conector was all I needed....
Good Luck..
If I was home.. I'd take mine apart and show you...
