E36 Engine Swap

I searched the forum for advise but I haven't found a situation like mine.

My ex blew the engine in her 1989 325i. The block pours water, rods are broken, and every mechanic who looks at says buy another one.

I found a 1991 318i with a good engine and a trashed body for cheap. I know I'm downgrading, but I only paid $600 for 318i with 100k miles - and I was able to drive it home.

Are these engines interchangeable? What all do I need to know to exchange engines?

i dont think an e36 motor will fit in an e30... u should do some research on that though!

Use your resources.. get on google... search.. then find some tuners.. I'm sure its been done atleast twice in the world... look around.. you are bound to find some info on that shit..

a 91 318i engine is not an e36. i have a 91 318i engine from my e30 in my garage.
it will fit. u may have to drill a hole or 2 for the mounts, but it shouldnt be too bad.
ill sell it to you if u want it, i have all the other stuff that u will need also.
