I pulled into the dealership today and saw some nice 330's and it got me thinking. .
Right now I have a '98 328is, it currently has 54kmi on it, I picked it up over the summer for a great price., I could sell it and make most of my money back.
Should I keep my e36 for another year or two OR would it be smart to pick up something like a 330 that is a couple years newer. I would ultimately be paying about the same amount per month on my loan (maybe a few more bucks) so it wouldnt matter too much in that department.
I just don't know if i would be worth the hassle since my car now is in great condition and just keep driving it till i can save up money for something even better..
thanks in advance

Keep what you have, your car is sweet. The value of the 330 right now is still fairly expensive, if you keep the car that you currently have, it's blue book value or whatever won't decrease as fast as that 330... if you plan on saving money instead of spending it, keep your 328is... that's what i would do anyways. Good luck on your choice.
I don't know what your paying now...but a 330 a few years newer than your 1998 is gonna cost a hell of a lot more than your 98...unless its some kind of crazy deal...which is hard to find from a BMW dealership because they slap a "certified" sticker on it and get $3000 more than book....
The E46 chassis is nice, but there is something about the look of an E36 that I love..I'd say to stick with the 328is. If your gettin itchy why not invest in some nice 17's or a lip to spruce up the 328.
You guys are gonna shoot me for this....... but alot of "base models" E46s look to much like the new Honda Civics to me. They have the same shape in profile view, the taillights are very similiar....... Too pedestratian for me, and I feel like BMW lost a bit of that look that keeps their cars looking fresh even when they are 10 years old.
BTW..... how can your auto loan for a 98 E36 be the same monthly as an almost new/new E46? Lease?
To do list:
Suspension--- researching
UUC System U TDM- 3/05
M50 manifold converstion 3/05
off to the tuning shop for custom software 4/05
Cams/lightened flywheel, throttlebody........ well lets see what happens

I'm with 93_325i, the later models look.....softer in the front is the only way I can describe it. E36s look more aggressive. With that said, I would also keep what you have since with 54k miles on it its sitll a baby!! Like he said, spend some $ on mods.

lol...don't worry so much about numbers my friend...I prefer real life experience....check out the video in the video vault if you want to see a 328 vs a 330...e36's have much better power to weight ratios...
Just becuase another car has more hp doesn't mean it's faster. Unforunetely BMW has just gone lax with their 3 series. Most of the people who buy BMW's now a days buy them for the image and not the performance...so BMW has no reason to make their 3 series fast... =/
Deloriant, ive been waiting for you to respond to by post in the driving tails section about the 328is vs the G35 6 speed. Some people want to see a video of us race. what do you think?
