E36 converion (Euro to american)

Just wondering if anyone has dealt with or heard anyone converting an 93 325i from european to american specs. I've heard it cost anywhere from $1500 to $3000.
If so what are all of the required modifications. I'm assuming its alot since american cars are big on safety features and such. Anyway...

not sure what you need converted.. the speedo of course needs to go from kilometeres to miles. however the rest should be ok........maybe something has to do with emmisions. but overall id rather have a euro spec over an american spec anyday..
