E36 Compact Engine Swap (Auto to Manual?)

Would just like to say hi to everyone at the forum!

I was wondering if you could help with a quick question I've got. Basically, I want to swap an engine from a P-Reg 1997 316i Compact with another engine from a donor car (the same model and year). However, the new engine is mated to an auto - and my car is a manual. My mechanics have told me that this is not possible to change - however I really don't think it would be that difficult.

Anyone care to assist? Thanks!

Wow, I am really surprised that no one answered this thread... and I am even more surprised that you came back to update. I'm glad you got the very easy swap done. I hope that you didn't take it back to the same mechanic that told you that it was not possible.
