I brought it to the dealer and he tells me, after $107 to run the diagnostic test, that the intake camshaft sensor is faulty. he didn't say it was "broken."
the car feels fine, engine runs fine, he mentioned that if it is not replaced, the fuel/air will be the worng mix thus causing ineffecient fuel consumption.
parts: $130 and labour: $65
I'm wondering if this is a DIY or should I bring it in? Anyone else experience this before with their e36?
one other question, how can I check for myself (98' E36) the ECU error codes, am i forced to see the dealership?

You need or know someone with a scan reader to check the codes. Which engine do you have? It looks like it could be a DIY, but for $195, I might be tempted to let the dealer do it. Is that Canadian dollars?
