I have an M42 belt driven clutch fan and I'm looking to do an electric fan conversion. I took out my aux fan (mounted between the bumper and rad) and the motor was completely seized. I'm going to remove my belt driven clutch fan (mounted between the engine and the rad) and replace it with the M44 electric engine fan.

Here's my question. I took out the aux fan and it actually looks identical to the M44's engine electric fan. A friend of mine has a spare E36 aux fan. Is this infact the same as the M44's electric engine fan? I want to mount the fan behind the radiator (between the engine and the rad) and replace the belt driven clutch fan. I don't care at all about the front aux fan.

Hope that wasn't too complex to understand.

Bry

I'm not sure if is the same fan power-wise, if its not it should only be more powerful, which would be better for you. I would imagine the size would be exactly the same.
