hi there
pulled up outside pub to do gig with my band, turned off ignition of the car, noticed buzzing coming from front end.lifted bonnet listened. Under battery tray there's a motor with pipes coming out of it,this was buzzing away. Has been making a funny groaning noise on start up for a while which either goes away or persists but not effecting car as such, tried starting then stopping car had no affect still buzzing away, so decided to take battery terminal off so I would be able to start car to get home. Had to leave it buzzing away once home as no spanner to remove terminal so drained battery. Also ABS light now on.
got the right size spanner now,LOL....
Any suggestions appreciated as really no got a clue
OK.I'm sorry new to BMW so now I've identified what it is and best way to proceed without doing more damage to car, like no brakes, which in this case I'm told is disconnect wiring so doesn't waste battery......
so then will look into getting replacement as need car to be on the road.
Ok, did that fuse no.38 for anybody else who's stuck in the same position.
say's on fuse box fuse's 10,21,and 38 first two motor kept running so all good now.will keep that spanner on board just in case....
so next question is once purchased new or reconditioned unit can i replace myself or is it specialist job.
also any idea what the groaning noise is,was thinking air con as this seems a bit erratic in responding to controls unless engine warmed up once heater working seems to stop but noise starts and stops wierd
Air-con wouldn't groan "as such" but not get cold...
Replacing the ABS unit IS easy, just follow any "Bleeding procedures"...
It could be that the fluid just needs renewing, try the easy options before spending many £££'s on it...
