e36 318is 96 fuel gauge and temperature gauage not working

fuel gauge and temperature gauge blowing 15amp fuse replaced with 32 amp fuse and that blew too..am i dealing with a short..just had new starter motor fitted .and this happened 2 days later..

Don't put in a bigger fuse then is called for. Find out what the blown fuse is going to and them trace the wires back to it and look for a short. Their is a temperature sensor in the front bumper.

I agree... Doubling that fuse rate and still blowing it means it is a dead short to chassis... If it were elsewhere then you could've experienced a loom fire !!

ha I found the fault..was rear light cluster corrosion on brake bulb holder...back to 15 amp fuse and all ok...fitted new battery after I saw expiry label was 2003 and new alternator...full power is back on car, no bogging down on acceleration..starts on first click..removed K&N filter..back to normal air box with outside infeed..far better response..should have done this years ago...the revs are very constant ...if your alternator and battery are over 5 years old then fit new items..the difference is amazing...after all the alternator is the heart of the car not the engine...
