E36 - 316 All four electric windows stop working

Dear All,

I have 96 316 (E36), lately it started behaving bit strange.. Whenever car is parked in British heat(!) all four electric windows stop functioning there is no power. Neither they go down nor they go up, but when outside temp. goes down and when it becomes cool, all windows start wroking again.

Tried replaceing fuse, cutout switch. but no joy ..

I would appreciate it if some one can give me any pointer..

Cheers

Wilson.

That's the most mysterious electrical problem I've heard of. I'm still just at the point of guessing...

Sounds like one for the Auto Electrician...

Sounds to me like a dry solder joint in one of the main switches, perhaps borrow one or get a cheap one from the wreckers and try swapping it out?

Dunno, best educated guess i can come up with???

Good luck.

Windows and Sun Roof don't open.
I checked the fuses under the hood - All okay
I checked the comfort switch - All okay - This is simply an on/off switch for disabling the windows and roof for those who have an urge to bail.
Ordered a Comfort Switch Relay - 61-35-8 353090 found in a pod under the steering wheel to the left of the comfort switch after you take off the knee cover.
Will report tomorrow to see if I just blew $45 buckeroos.
