E36 3-Series. Insurance magnets??

Hey all, I'm new. I'm on VWVORTEX.COM forums alot, aswell as snowmobileworld.com, dirttrails and planetsled.com. I wanted to learn more on BMW. Now my question is this, for someone with (lets say for example) a few years with no traffic infractions and a good record, would one of these fine cars be hard on insurance??

Nope. In fact, most insurance companies like cars that have excellent safety ratings. Generally speaking, they know that someone who invests in a car like a BMW isn't stupid enough to just drive wrecklessly...for the more mature crowds anyways.

Also, it depends a lot more on age and prior driving record. If you have a clean record and are over 25, insurance is very cheap...also especially compared to gas prices nowadays.

It seems to really vary depending on where you live. I'm 27, and haven't had a ticket or accident since I was 17. I live in New York, and I pay about $3K a year for full coverage. Which is a lot. My monthly insurance payment is more than my car loan. This is pretty typical for NY state though.

It really depends on the BMW. The M3 is way more than any 3 series and so on. But it really honestly depends on where you live. I work at Farmers insurance and where you live is a huge criteria of how they rate the cars. Mostly because if you live in a large metropolitan area you are more likely to have an accident due to statistics rather than a rural area because of the amount of drivers on the road.

i live in NY also....insurance is ridiculous in new york. although i dont pay as much as wully1. im 22 and havent had a ticket or accident since i was 17 i think. i pay $2300/yr. but again thats pretty much typical for ny
