E30 and E36 Transmissions - Question HELP!

I have an 85 325i parts car with a good tranny
I have a 95 318 parts car with a good tranny

I have a 1993 325is that I love and let my stoopid friend drive and she ran over a curb and put a hole in the tranny.

So are any of these trannies to fit? Or do I need ANOTHER parts car ... my dad's quonset is running out of rooooooom.

I don't think the parts cars' trannies work; one conflicts with engine type and the other with chassis type.

Okay I just got this pm from the e-30 forum. Thoughts anybody? Is it worth pulling it out of the 85 325? Will there have to be modifications? Who knows for sure?

Thanks!

"The gearbox from the e30 is a Getrag 260 - The engine in the e36 is an m50 - They do mate."

It's possible, but I would look into it more.

A 260 will work. A friend of mine who did an M50 swap into an e30 used a getrag 260 from an e30 325is. I think you may have to modify the trans cross brace though.
