DVD/MP/Navigation System

I'm checking out a few systems. I was sold on the $1500 Pioneer AVIC-N1 all in one system: it not only plays DVDs and Navs you but it also hooks up to your movement sensors and has a display that tells you you velocity, angular momemtun, torque, acceleration etc.., on top of that there is a rear bumper camera that allows you to see traffic directly behind you. I felt this was THE ultimate interior mod. But I only want the NAV system and I was in a cab last night that used the Magellen 700 that seem cool. Has anyone hooked one of these in their E36?

Where would you mount the Magellan?

I'm thinking pulling out my dash computer and mounting it in both that space and the space of sunglasses pocket below.

Here is where I would insert the magellan 700. And since it hooks up to the cigarette lighter for power it would be right there so I wont get that nasty wiring all over the place.

Would this work?

I dont know the magellon 700 but i do know most GPS do need line of sight to the sky to get a good lock or a at least a quicker lock on location. so a external antenna might be a good idea too.
