When I went to pick up my BMW 93 325i I only got one key, looking through the manual I guess I also didnt get the code for making a new key. Anyone know if the dealer can make copies from the orginal key? Thanks
My dealer charged me $28 for a duplicate "regular" key. They didn't do the work there, rather they send the car information (VIN) back to someplace like New Jersey where they laser cut the new key. Took 4-5 days to get.

No squeaks or rattles... unreal!
yeah the stealer can make the key for you... they have a few different ones you can pick from... for a few extra bucks make sure you get the key with the big head and bmw logo..
I actually don't like the key with the big head. I specifically requested the smaller master key. They charged me $31. Not bad for it being the dealership.

i wouldnt go to any1 other than the dealer to get a key for my car!!
plus, its not like the dealer cuts the key right there... they send your vin number to the factory and then they send the key back!! i paid 35 bucks for a new key, b/c i needed to sacrafice my other key for my Remote start!!
When i got my car i had one key a second key was $50 for the normal non-lighted key. The lighted key was $80. The dealer is expensive but i don't really trust other people with the key. I have seen a lot of cars that have a cheap key made and the key can get stuck and such after a while.

Where did your other key go? Or did you kave to take out the RFiD chip? I am sure you didn't just leave it in the ignition.

$50 for a key (for a e36... porsche keys run you around $500)!!!!!! That seems a bit steep. Wow. But I agree, I trust the dealer, not so much others.

My key did not have any electronics in it except for a light that you could press to see where you are putting it i guess. So when i got another one made it was $50 and very basic. My car is a 1994 and the newer cars may be different. A $500 porsche key i am sure has the electronics in it whereas mine does not. I think the ones with the keyless entry on the key are like $150-200.
Sorry about the other post my computer did not load up and of the "quote" areas before.
