My first real problem with my car. When my driver's side window is about half down or farther and I go to roll it back up, I press the button down to have the automatic close start. It goes about 2/3s up stops and drops back down an inch. Then I try and roll it up again and press and it goes up an inch then back down again an inch. I have also tryed to use my key and holding it to the lock direction to run all the windoes shut and it will do the same thing. I have to some times run it down to almost all the way and run it all the way back up while I hold the button down to the auto close position. My passenger side window has no problems. I think this has been caused from more use to the driver side.

Is there a sensor that thinks my window is to far up? I would understand it if it just stopped and I just pressed the buttom down again, but it drops down about an inch or more. It has been getting worse.

There was one time when I was using my key to close my windows and it was stopping and falling. So I decided to press upward on the glass and run my window up with my key again. It seemed to work, but yet another time I couldn't get this trick to work.

I am a studying Electrical Engineer, so I am plenty handy with electrical and mechanical systems. I just need to know what to look for.

Please help,
-Chris

PS. Anyone ever shimmed their doors. My drivers door seems to be sagging off and not latching inline. I was thinking about shimming the bottom hinge with a thin piece of steel. Maybe like 1 mil thickness.

thats your problem, your door. you need new door pins, once your door pins start to go, the door sags and it doesnt allow actuator to be engaged thus making the window drop down that inch at the top. try holding the door shut and rolling the window see if it does anything.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. You think I can get them rigth from the dealer? Can I do this myself. Or do I need any special tools.

My drivers side window doesn't go up all the way by itself... usually. I usually ahve to hold the button down... but I've had that checked out and I need a new motor-thingy (forgot the name) for it... It was more than I want to spend just so my window will go up automatically so I havent' done it yet. It was maybe $300? You'll have to go ask.

... of course you may have a totally different situation if your entire door is sagging... You should probably take it in... Even if you want to do it yourself... Just so you know exactly what the problem is?

Oh wait, I remember! There's a sensor in the windows (so if they go up when your dog has his head out the window or something they'll stop before popping his head). THAT'S what had needed replacing.
