Doors wont open !

I have a 94 318is coupe and I am locked out of it !!! The central locking seems to be working fine when using the key in the lock however when trying to open both doors the handles do not seem to be conecting with anything and feel really loose.

The boot is not locked so do i have to try and strip the entire boot out to get into the car? I am considering breaking a window to gain access at the moment as i am at my wits end!!

Help please....any suggestions?

Dont go breaking a window!, do you have remote ?, as it sounds like its dead-locked its self, is your battery in the trunk?

No i dont have a remote and the battery is under the bonnet. Like i said the central locking is working fine but when I try to open the door the handle just lifts right up and is has excessive movement and not opening the door.

I think its more mechanical than electrical like the door opening mechanism has become detached from the actual handle. The passenger side has been like this for a while and now both doors have finally given up.

Fact is I just cannot seem to get into the car. The boot is open ok and am considering trying to break in through the back seat but the seat locks are proving rather difficult so my final open would be to put a window through.

Mmmmmm..... ok have you tried slipping a bent coat hanger between the rubber and glass you maybe able to hook the release mechanism or rather you should be able to, either from where the handle is pull up and sideways slightly or from the front where the inside handle is pulling forward towards the bonnet, it may take a while to hook on but you will get there, if the chrome and rubber trim will pull off where it meets the glass thi will help you see a little.

Pity you werent down the road Id come and do it for you, something I learnt working in a breaker yard.
