Door Lock Problems

Hey all. I have a 98' 328i and the reare passenger door does not open. I use the remote to unlock the doors and it still stays locked. I cannot open it from the inside nore the outside. I manually unluck it and the lock handle pulls back down acting like it is locked. Again with no luck on opening in the door. I took the door apart from the inside and have the trim panel off, but again I cannot find how to get the door open so I can take the mechanism out. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Bump for you... I dont have much exsperiance with the door mech. but is there any way you can un-do the mech and just take it out... and replace it.. if you can get it loose that would be the way to go...

I have a similar problem with my passenger door and the rear door, driver's side. What I am planning to do is taking the paneling off and looking at the entire system. Look for anything that seems out of place. Mine works at times at doesn't at other times. In the future, try to ensure that most of your locking and unlocking is done using the button in your center console. That way the mechanism applies only the amount of force necessary to lock and unlock the door, as opossed as what is bound to happen when us humans do it -- we can often apply to much force and mess up the mechanism as a result. Good luck. I'll make sure to post pictures and a short testimonial after I fix mine. Please do the same if you get it done before I do.

I will post what I can. I took the panel off and have been playing with the linkages to see if any of them would release the door. I am going to fish a coat hanger in there next and see if there is something I can latch onto to open it up. Check yous maybe it is froozen and that is why it locks and unlocks some of the times. Unless your in a warm climate lol. Ill keep ya posted. Thanks
