Door Handle Catch Slipping

Ok, now its one little thing after another, validating some jestering by Mercedes people on BMW's, ugh....

My driver side door handle must be getting worn... now I have to jerk it hard and quick, and works better with my left hand than right (I know, I KNOW, dont go there!)... and I feel like its getting worse... there are times when I pull with my right and the handle just comes up empty, no catch or resistance whatsoever, which means eventually, I will have to go into my freakin car from the passenger side! Imagine how embarrassing that would be on a date, LOL.... and I assume it will only get worse because this doesnt seem like the kind of problem that will get better on its own.

So options? Easy handle replacement? Or whole door? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks as always guys.

It's common but it's fixable. A new latch assembly is available from PelicanParts.com. The only sucky part is swapping over your lock tumbler. Take yor door panel off first to see if a rod or something else hasnt broken off.

Could be the latch itself that needs adjustment (not handle)... Just an idea!

Ya but even just the latch, doesnt the whole door panel and innards have to be exposed to fix that? Still like a 1-2 hr job even for an indy right?

Ya the whole inside door panel has to be removed. It's quite simple to do, you just have to be careful not to break the little plastic clips that hold it on. Probably takes less then 30 minutes to remove it. I have to remove one of mine soon but I don't anticipate it taking very long.
