Door Handle broke

so this has been doing on for a while now... I unlock my door I go and pull on my door to get in and it just pulls as if nothing caught it. if I push it in really hard, it'll sometimes catch it and then open... but today I couldn't get in at all... needed to open up rear to get in.. when I'm in the car, it opens no problem... how do I fix this issue?

<editing my 1st post> posted thinking i was in the e46 forum. On e36 1st make sure that the door latch has lot of lube, soak it well with a good quality spray lube. If that doesnt help then you will just have to remove the door panel and visually inspect it. Its usually just common sense spotting the problem. Good Luck
