Door Card/Panel Removal

Hi,

Well just bought my first Car. 1992 320 E36 Coupe, 114k miles, very nice condition with no bodywork rust

Theres a few little bits and pieces i need to sort out on it though.

• N/S front fog light
• Thermostat
• Bonnet Badge (laquer has peeled)
• Onboard computer doesnt power on
• Blower fans do either off or level 4
• N/S sun visor mirror is cracked
• Left map reading light doesnt work
• N/S window regulator works but i think its on its way out

as you can see pretty minor things for a 16 year old car!

My question is how do I take the door cards off? its such a stupid question i know, ive taken plenty of door cards off a Focus but i can only see two screws (near the door handle) with no screws around the edge of the door card.

Reading previous threads people have mentioned get some spare clips before you take them off because they always break, what do these look like and where do you guys get them from? (I dont want to take the card off untill I have spare clips to get the card back on again)

As I said stupid question but any help would be appreciated

As for the door cards, just unscrew the two screws by the door handle (after yo pull off the little covers), they're a funny star screw. Then unscrew the little black thing on top of the door card that is used to lock the door.

Now just start pulling, start on one edge and work your way around. They should just pop out pretty easily.

The clips are really shit, especially when they're this old and brittle. You probably won't break any taking the door cards off but they break when you go to put them back in, don't align the hole-clip correctly and push

They're very cheap but got to get them from a BMW dealership.

I recommend you also download the BMW bentley manual. Its got everything in it that you might ever need pretty much.
