i don't think there is a way to change the sound, i know there is a mini speaker under your dash... if its really that annoying just take that speaker out!\
and also... its not because the door is open! its because your car is off, and the lights are on, and then you open the door.. its so that u don't leave your lights on!
I fkn hate that "ding...ding ...ding" when you leave the door open, so here are 2 options. You can either pay me 100 bucks to remove the sound for you, OR you can spend 5 minutes of your day to do it yourself.
Okay, 1st you have to take off the the panel where the noise is coming form. That is the big panel under the steering wheel, with the speaker. When you get behind the panel, you will find two wires (with connectors) plugged into the speaker. All you have to do is unplug those bastards, and voila! no more dong ding sound. (note- there are two connectors plugged into the speaker. I think one beeps for the door, and one beeps for the headlights ((left on)). However, I just unplugged both because I am lazy. )
THERE ARE NO SIDE EFFECTS unless you leave your headlights on. Then youre screwed.
more or less what I wanted to know was is there something, some kind of buzzer/ringer that I can buy at radio shack thats less annoying? I still like the feature but its a ridiculous sound.

i know exactly what you mean, i hate the god damn sound. what i would try to do would be to find the signal wire from the door to the buzzer and just cut that. because i still really like how it will beep if i accidentally leave my lights on. no one likes a dead battery
I actually don;t think I have ever heard this. I am sure that it works for the lights or if your key is in the ignition. Hmmm, kinda makes me want to go do it just to hear what you are talking about.
