Domelight Stays On - BMW Forum

I have been working on my car and never noticed it but - now it seems the domelight won't go off. Even when i start the car it stays on.

Anyone can tell me about this??

Check the door switches at each door and make sure they're not damaged or broken off. If they continue to stay on pull the fuse to keep from killing your battery.

Or try the rocker switch near the reading lights...

so to recap check the microswitch on the driverside door it could be kaput, also check to make sure its not stuck, and also just for the sake of it, check to make sure your door pins are ok, if the door doenst close properly (may look closed but its not) than that will keep the light on because as far as the car is concered the door is open

Where is the microswitch??

Also if that were it wouldn't the door light come on?

Which is why I ruled out the door pins/circuitry telling the car it si open

I installed a new domelight (bulb) maybe I did something wrong?

The light only turns off with the rocker switch

What I don't understand is why the "door open" display in the instrument cluster doesn't come on?

i dont have a door light, the only thing that tells me a door light is on is if the interior lights come on.... the microswitch is located on the car side of where the door latches together its a small black switch , take a good look youll see it, start the car then press that in see if the lights go away.

Looks like it really was the microswitch on the rear drivers door

what do i do?
