Fog lights are yellow.
Driving lights are white.

If you turn on bright driving lights in the fog, the glare will decrease the viewing distance substantially.

Just like yellow shaded sun glasses that are recommended for cloudy days, the yellow lights don't reflect back in the fog.

I think prewired cars came with a switch. Another way is to simply look down in that region for an unused plug.

Ahh.

I don't think my car was prewired. I have no switch, but a previous owner wanted fogs. They had a weird ass wiring setup and were using the headlights to power the fogs. They did have the factory plugs though. Look hard, they should be there. If not, try a salvage yard for the plug ins. Anyway, that setup had to go before I installed my HID, so I wired my OE fogs from bimmerparts like this:

Splice parking light ground.
Cut parking light wire; butt connected the parking light wire to a lead on the fog wire.
Taped all connections well.

HID and fogs defeat the purpose of fogs.
