In trying to procure a new chip for my car, and these guys seem much more thorough in their questions for issuing the proper chip versus my response from Turnermotorsport.
I've always thought that Turnermotorsport was a fantastic BMW tuner, but Active seems to be providing me with better service.
Yes very much so... Turner Motor Sports is a great tuner.. I've been using them for many many parts in the past... as for tuning.. the main reason they cant exactly help you all that much when it comes to their product in computer chips.. is because they sell the Jim C. chip.. which means thats all they do... is sell.
As for contacting Jim C. about his chip... they will forward an email or questions regaurding tuning and a complete in house performance chip custom made. It might take him a few weeks to get back to you.. as he is a very busy man.. but they should be able to forward that to his email address.. *him being Jim C.*
Yeah Les, I agree Turnermotorsport is a great company, but they just aren't giving me the service that AA is. I have emailed them numerous times, and called them, and they aren't getting back to me.
AA on the other hand has called me a few times a day, just to ask such specific questions as the diameter of the MAF (3" v.s. 3.5"), which certainly impresses me.
I just don't know AA. Has anyone purchased a chip from AA?
I have never purchased a chip from them, but I do want to add on your service comment.
I have had super service from them, they even gave me a checkup phone call..... That is unheard of these days.
Later in the winter season I do plan on getting a chip from them as well as other upgrades, I believe they are able to tailor your chip to the exact mods that you have. I think as a tuner they very much have their act together.

Turner Motorsport and Active Autowerkes are both good. But to tell you the truth, I've compared them up against Dinan and Bavarian Autosport chips and they all felt like they gave the same amount of assistance in the horsepower department. The chip is the best Bang For the Buck engine modification.
If anyone is interested I can get you performance chips for a good deal
As I have a unique car, it required a unique chip. Neither Active, Dinan, or Turner offer off the shelf chips for the M52 engine (offered only in the 96' and later 328 cars with OBDII), I was hoping to have one of the aforementioned autohaus' burn me a custom chip.
As mentioned earlier in this thread, Active was the only one that seemed interested to help me. So I'm giving them a try.
Notice I say "giving" not "gave" them a try. After giving them an immense amount of data regarding my car, they burned a custom chip based on the data given. Got it last week, took it to the dyno, and after much tweaking, it's still just not right. Active was nice enough to gurantee me up to three additional burns at no extra charge if the first one didn't work out. Well, it didn't. So I'm now in the process of sending the first chip back accompanied with a ton of data, so that they can make the necessary adjustments.
Don't get me wrong, the first chip wasn't a total failure, I gained 17hp and 16ft/lbs of tq@3250rpm, but I lost peak hp and tq. So now, I'll await another chip, and go rent some more dyno time. I'll keep you guys posted.

with the stock chip I'm putting down 186hp and 185tq at the rear wheels. My goal is about 203hp and 190tq with the AA chip (once it's right) and the addition of an e39AFM.
