Has anyone heard or owned a Dinan exhaust for a 328iS. I'm thinking about getting the system, but it's pretty expensive compared to others out there. I really like the sound of the borla system too, and it's about 45% cheaper.
DINAN is DINAN. IMO nothing they make sucks. As far as sound goes, Ive never heard one, but I would be willing to bet (just speculating) that it is probably similar to Remus, as they have a very sport tuned tone. The Borla is more aggressive, if you are not hauling the kids around, or if you are a kid yourself, go for the noise maker!
Yeah, I guess it just depends on who you are. I love mine, and it is not quiet. But at speed, it is almost silent. It only makes noise when accelerating and decelerating. I was merely talking about that.
BTW, anyone who hasn't heard the Borla, I (actually skawful did it for me) uploaded a clip for everyone to hear in case your interested. {CLICK HERE}
I had a magnaflow and I removed it after a couple of months. I couldn't stand how bassy it was and how at constant cruising speeds it started to drone. All my interior panels would vibrate while the car was cruising, it was terrible. However, when I accelerated it sounded great. Downshifting also sounded great. It did backfire a lot more "snap crackle pop".
I replaced it with the ANSA cat back and it's nice. A little too quiet for me but I can easily remove the resonators that came with the exhaust at a later time. Anyways, I found that magnaflows produce more or less the same sound as the Borlas. Borla sounds better on 4 cyls than on 6 cyls. It has an odd hollow tin can sound to it. That kind of bugged me. But they have proven gains and they are a very reputable company. Dinan does make quality parts, but I've "heard" Dinan modifies stock E36 exhaust systems so it's not even stainless steel, no thanks.

Yeah my stock exaust sounds really nice, but when I eventually upgrade it I want something that's pretty quite around town at 2 or 3k but It's ok if it makes some noise when I stomp on the gas, any suggestions?

Hmmmmm.....UUC TSE2. Sounds like you have a V8 at initial startup. Purdy quiet @ 2k+ rpms. But deep throaty growl at low rpms(2.5K and below)....all I can say is it doesn't sound ricey like a fart cannon/coffee can. Stomp on the peddle I can hear my intake more than the exhaust...I dunno...I likes it!
