Dinan Chip

I bought a Dinan chip for my 1993 325IS and it says made in Singapore. Is it supposed to be made there or is this a faky. I would think it would say made in Germany. Someone please help.

The IC chip isn't made by Dinan, just the software is. Most countries such as Samsung, Hyundai, LGS, etc are made in Taiwan, Sigapore, Mylasia, etc make the IC chips because labour is cheaper there. I don't think you'll ever see any IC chips or circut boards made in Germany. BMW uses AMD circuts which are also made in Taiwan.

Anyways, not to worry, my Dinan IC chip is also made in one of those countries.

Sound like you're less concerned where the chip is made and more concerned as to whether you have a fake or not.

One way to confirm...call the company!

Thanks alot guys. Well, I bought it on Ebay for $58, pretty cheap. So I am hoping it's not fake. It says made in Singapore and that worries me, but one of the responders stated most of them are made in Asian countries so that's a relief. I still have doubts about using it. I do appreciate everyone's responses to my question- you guys rule.

I work for a semiconductor facility, and 90% of every chip ever produced comes from asia. Or passes through that area at some point in the process, which my companys parts do.
