Digital Climate Control Malfunction

Hi forum, I have a 1998 323ic, the electronic climate control comes on when I start the car. If I turn the a/c off and turn the car off, get in the next morning to start it up the climate control comes on to the lowest setting. This does not happen if I am running errands, in and out of the car. Only when it has a chance to sit for a while. Any suggestions? I have been living with it because it is not one of the more prioritized issues I am having with this car.

I guess it's not a major problem, but I don't want to keep stressing the compressor everytime I start the car.

I am pretty sure that Nissan setup one of their sports cars to activate the Air Con when the car was put into reverse to keep the sealing rubbers within the AC system lubricated. It was purely an exercise to reduce the number of warranty claims that they were receiving on the AC systems. It may be that this model BMW has a similar configuration. Just my 2c worth

Mine does exactly the same, turned it off last night made a note of the temp setting, this morning started it up.....you guessed it same temp setting with the fan setting on lowest, good observation.

My E36 used to do the same thing. It is just how it is programmed, I guess
