My car has the dual air-con unit in it - the digital version, and it keeps coming on and off - the screen on it i mean and the buttons don't work periodically - does anyone know what could be causing this... i think its either the unit thats faulty or the relay for it - does anyone know which relay it is in the fuse box?

cheers.

It could be a relay. That is, if there is one for it. Does the unit completely cease to operate? Or is it only that your lights go out? YOu may need to replace or resolder the final stage capacitor in your climate control unit. I need to do this, but haven't yet, so I cannot really instruct you. I will search for a DIY. I know there is a good one. As far as I know, this will fix the flickering lights if the unit is not shutting completely off. However, it may be the culprit of the behavior you are experienceing.

Alot of people have trouble doing the soldering, maybe because they don't know how to. But it is definetely better to fix it then replace the whole unit.

If you are affraid to do it, then go to any electronics repair shop, and ask them how much to replace a capacitor. I would charge no more then $30 bucks, since all it takes is about 15 min. of labor. I don't suggest you try doing it if you don't know how to solder, because you could end up screwing up.
