Difference In Stock Bumpers

[93 325i]

I am wondering why there are 2 different bumpers for the E36. I have this kind:

I have also seen this type:

Where the yellow arrows are is what im questioning..Is it depending on the year?

i have never really found an answer to this, but have wondered for a while.... i think its just different bumpers... might be years not sure?

Are you sure the Marroon one isn't a 5 series? It looks wider....I know what your talking about with the different slats in the middle of the bumper...

no its not a 5 series... they make those two different bumpers for the e36, and then the m3 bumper

The maroon one does not have fog lights. That's why it looks different. But my 93 is identical to that one- except I have fogs. I am just curious because im getting a reiger lip and I think it looks better on the second bumper..

it has to do with the years, i'm almost positive. i think this has been covered here before too, perhaps a search may yield the answer.

Probably in 95 they switched..I tried the search but a ton of unrevelant topics came up about M3 bumpers and what not.

I'm positive the 92's - 94's have the maroon colored one is an older one, I personally think it started to change at 95 and up, but definately 96 on up.

Yeah I have the older one on my 92. I think its the more aggressive looking of the two. Looks better IMO.

i agree, plus ac schnitzer makes really nice lips for the early bumpers.

its the difference in the years... the m3 front bumper is the same.. and changed it one year... but not sure which year! prolly in 95! along with the side skirts... the bmw sports package side skirts used to come on the m3...

The M3 bumper was changed in 95. I believe the difference is the years. And I believe the side skirts on the e36 M3 stayed the same for all the years. The only difference on e36 m3 side skirts is when you buy luxury package you get the base e36 skirs that don't look as agressive.

Also look at the kidneys- the red has the old style while the silver has the new style. They started that on 97 and up.

i have a 94 and a 95 e36 and both of them have the same bumper, so it must be a change in 96

but i think... my girlfriends 93 e36 has a different bumper then my two e36s... ill have to check into it i cant remember! might be wrong
